It has two silver collars, both are hallmarked Birmingham 1929 and syamped "G & J Z". The upper collar is also stamped "Whalebone" and "G. & J. Zair Makers". Between the collars the grip of the whip is covered in dark tan leather with a finely stitched seam. The rest of the long tapering whalebone shaft is covered in braided thread.
